Investigation of a Curtain Antenna Array for TIGER – NZ.
Quang NGUYEN and Dr John DEVLIN
La Trobe University, Australia.
A log periodic curtain antenna has been designed as an alternative to the current "Sabre" Antenna. The new antenna should be more robust than the current antenna due to its well-supported design, but at the expense of a larger footprint. Results of simulations using NEC models of the proposed antenna are presented. The antenna patterns show excellent performance. The design is discussed in relation to the tradeoffs between performance, pattern, VSWR, and back to front ratio. Simulations are also presented for an antenna array using NEC models, for both a linear array and a frequency independent array. A proposal for a 3-D frequency independent array is also presented.
